What is Essentials?

Essentials (Cycle 2) aligns with Cycle 2 Foundations memory work and focuses on building confident communicators and logical thinkers through three core areas.

Essentials of the English Language (EEL) emphasizes sentence structure, parts of speech, and clarity through sentence analysis.

Writing (IEW) guides students through structured, incremental writing using source summaries, paragraph organization, and style techniques.

Faces of History

Faces of History is a fun capstone project in Essentials (grades 4–6) where students dive into the life of a historical figure. They research, write a five-paragraph paper based on the IEW model, and then bring their character to life by dressing up and presenting an autobiography. It’s a great way to pull together writing, grammar, history, and presentation skills in a memorable way.
